Accelerated Approval: Trading Endpoint Certainty for Speed
Perhaps the most debated of the FDA's expedited pathways is Accelerated Approval, which permits the agency to approve a drug based on a surrogate endpoint — a measurable biological marker reasonably likely to predict a clinical benefit — rather than waiting for direct evidence of that clinical outcome.
